Shirley's Memories

"It's all over", as they say. 7 months in the planning and executed better than ever imagined. One puncture, only half day of rain and a tail wind...there is definitely a God. What are my outstanding memories? The unbelievably strong scent of heather blossom descending from the Cairn O' Mount, the beautiful rolling road between New Galloway and Abington (I could have cycled Dalveen Pass again), seeing the RAF van at Elgin, signalling the end, the great company every day which took our minds away from our legs and the fact the Cairn O' Mount didn't beat me! I also now know the UK bee population is declining because they keep committing suicide by flying (hard) into cyclists! The despair arriving at Newton Stewart (2 hours after starting) is long forgotten, the 11 mile sprint to Aboyne uphill and into a head wind to reach their Highland Games just another challenge. The pain in my thighs at Edzell soothed away. A massive thanks to The Team. Kirsty for agreeing this was a great idea and Danny 'Daz' the Mechanic who fetched and gathered for 4 days. Thanks too to the Stroke Association team for their smiles on Friday. Tim, Sam, Alistair and the two Iain's for their encouragement and Carole for the Cairn O' Mount picnic. A special thanks too to the Raemoir Hotel for their generosity. Apologies to everyone for my one navigational error at Kelty. Success. Tenacity. Relief. Outstanding. Kinetic. Experience. Thanks everyone for coming along for the ride! Shirley
